I have tried to write about The Mile. It was an epic event in my life. Yet, all I did was run hard for 6 minutes. Nothing else in the world has changed. As a result, I find it challenging to find the words to capture properly the meaning and substance of the experience. It was like finishing my marathon. I have been walking around with a profound sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. I have a quiet confidence that I can do the impossible. But no one else knows or cares. I will try to formulate my thoughts and make a proper post later.

I'm treating this week as a recovery week but not because of my mile PR. I worked hard on Friday doing other things and I'm still fighting that cold.

that is *hardly* an "all I did" type of event...Don't knock it. You may not have the words to describe it but it hardly knocks down it's significance or value. You've changed... and that's incredible. When you reach a goal that previously felt so distant, so unatainable... it's an incredible feat.. Yes you can do the impossible.. anything you set your mind to.. and you've proven it to yourself. Now what will be your next challenge?? ;)

And I'm sorry to hear you are sick. I'm still fighting these terrible allergies. This year has been a rough one on me in many ways, including these stinking allergies. I wonder if in all honesty my body has been weakened due to my emotional state. If that's the case I hope things will start improving as I am hopefully moving up in my life..smiles

Yes, I have changed again, it is true.

I have some challenges in mind. I'll write about them as soon as I catch a breath.

Getting over the illness, thank you for your kind thoughts. I hope your allergies ease up soon! I'm sure your emotional state is part of the issue. Emotional issues often crop up as physical symptoms and exacerbate, if not directly cause, any current problems.

grins so are you out of breath literally or just figuratively? lol.. I'd hope not literally as you ran that challenge several days ago ;)

looking forward to hearing what your next challenges are..

For me yah.. this year has been some dramatic change.. I keep attempting to focus on the positive, but each day that seems to be the challenge I am facing.. keeping positive and finding my focus. Too much to get into on here... maybe I'll do a recap post on my blog.. or feel free to email me offblog.. hazeldreams at gmail dot com ;)

It all seems intense. Keep focused on the positive and you will eventually find your way, I'm sure of it.

You know I hated everyone when they said the all too trite phrase.."it just takes time.. you'll feel better with time..." but it's true. Time has already made so many positive changes in my life.. put the distance between me and the pain, given me other things to focus upon, my daughters, my job, my family...etc.. even those pesky cats..smiles (btw.. my eldest is in love with your mooch!) So yes I am sure as long as I keep trying to remain positive things will continue to get better..

The problem with the trite phrases is that although often true, they are of little comfort when you a dealing with pain, stress, and change.

I'll see if I can post another pic of Mooch some time.

Michaela would be thrilled if you do... She said oh mom she's beautiful.. (she knows that calico's and tortis are always female.. you'd be amazed at what my 10 yr old knows about genetics due to our stint with our farm)...

hmm back to editing a few photos for my birthday post to my big girl..sighs..

Thank you. We are a happy family -- most of the time. I agree. J is attractive. She's also very intelligent. She's about 5'11 so she's a bit taller than me.

Mooch IS the perfect cat. I adore her.

5'6".

Most of the time, we are happy. However, I don't underestimate the strange ways of life and remain aware of and appreciative of our happiness.

Smart girl. We never knew that calicos were female until Mooch joined our family and we took her to the vet. She popped her nose out of the box and the vet said, "Oh, she's a female." We were astounded. How could you sex type a cat by her nose? That's when we learned about calicos.

LOLOL well to be honest with you M has a really great grasp of genetics as we bred our goats for specific traits (never color as the color patterns are far too numerous and resulting offspring very dificult to predict with the exception of knowing blue eyes was recessive)....so she would sit and help me decide who to breed to who and with what results we were hoping to achieve strengths wise, as well as what weakness we might end up with. She was very good at it. Impressed the crud out of her old riding instructor as she talked for 45 minutes to her about why the instructor chose the stallion she did for her farm. ;)

I wouldn't worry about trying to articulate it. Just live in the moment. It's a private accomplishment anyway---so few really understand. Enjoy!

I know you know how it feels. It is truly a private accomplishment so it's hard to capture in words. I'd like to do it, if only so I can remember the feelings and thoughts should they ever fade. Hard to articulate the feeling though.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hey there...I know I've been away a long time and hadn't commented but I did log in at one point just to see how you'd done and it brought me quite the thrill to see you had run your 6-minute mile. True...I didn't get around to commenting but the knowledge brought me a vicarious thrill of my own. Congratulations!

Hi, I've been away a long time too. Life has been good but very intense and busy. Funny thing though...I've thought about you, wondered how you were doing, what you were up to.

I'm really happy that you found vicarious satisfaction in my accomplishment. I have other goals but can't pursue them until things settle down a bit. In the meantime, I keep running. 7.1 miles today in 45 degree weather.

I'll try to catch up with you at the end of the semester. Your comment brought a big smile to my face!
